Learning color space

The color space

there are a wide variety of color space for graphic designing, photography and other color related arts. By mixing the colors Red, Blue and Green and the shades of white and black. the computer monitor is able to connect with us using colors.

Lab(cielab)
-is a range of colors that has the lightness in it. it can show you the neon or luminance of the color. unlike the CMYK and sRGB they can't bring up luminosity. a device dependent color space.

Pro Photo RGB
-is the most used color space in photography because unlike sRGB it has a most wide range of colors. it was developed by kodak.

Adobe RGB (1998)
-is an RGB space that was developed by the Adobe in 1998. it was designed to overpass the CMYK printing colorspace.

sRGB
-is much smaller color space than Adobe RGB (1998) used for web designing

CMYK
-a color space that is used for printing. Although it is smaller than other color spaces it is still used because of its relation to printers.

basic drawing concepts

The rule of thirds
this style of composition is a common thing for photographers. they use this to give space to their subjects, giving space to a subject give you more detail to whats happening in the shot. and gives the viewer a reason to look at the subject.

2nd meeting in Principles in design and color theory with Mr. Rey mendoza

learning the basics in configuring my own settings on photoshop.

to be able to start photoshop with its factory settings you must hold "command + option + shift" before clicking on the Ps icon, when prompt simply press yes to reset your photoshop settings.

to open up preferences press "Command + k" or simply go to (for mac click the PHOTOSHOP on the top left > preferences > general

preferences has many options to configure,  General, Interface, File handling, Performance, Cursor, Transparency, units & rulers, guides grids and slices, plug-ins and type.

on Interface you can change the color of the Photoshop's UI to black gray and to white.

on Performance it is best to use 60% of the computers memory for it to have 40% memory for the other programs in your computer.

on putting the number in the history settings. it is advisable that you only put up to 99 only for your computer not to hang or the program to crash.

Cursor, you can change your working cursor here. on how you want it to show when your working.

Transparency & gamut is where you change the empty layer on your work. on how you can see it.

units & rulers to be able to use ruler easily you must uses inches as the measurement. because it is the most common language we use instead of cm.

300 ppi is use by printers to print thier work because 72ppi is too small and the photo might get pixelated.

8 points is 12 points and is the best readable size of your text when printed in a paper.

Principles in design and color theory with Mr. Rey mendoza

  1. What is this subject and who is teaching this subject?
  2. What have you learned today?
  3. What are your expectations?

=> my first class for the second sem was Principles in design and color theory.
My professors name is Mr. Rey Mendoza he's a good guy (i think?) he talks nice to us and say jokes while discussing. he even let us use earphones if we are working. He's a professional photographer.

=> i have learned that my chosen course was not all about just designing and drawing things. you should also know how to talk to your clients and think rationally.  you must decide your goal. give people works that they need and at the same time they want it.

=>  this second semester will be a good one. having a nice prof and good at talking will surely give you all the knowledge you ned to learn. even though we are only few in the class i think that its better instead of having many classmates.

The ICCS Convention

Everyone thinks this is just a field trip. Some thinks that this is a awarding ceremony. And some a competition. Well I expected all of this. And unlike them, me and Michael are the most excited person in class. We like documentary stuffs. I like everything with relations to my course. Well in fact that I haven’t had sleep thinking who will show and to what will happen. Going to school at 4 o’clock when the set time is 5 is very much excited. At first I didn’t know where AFP is but then when we got there. It all reminded me that it’s the armed forces of the Philippines.

After registering and signing our attendance our prof told us to go inside the theater. It’s not as big as I imagine it but its feels great to be there. After 30mins of waiting it finally started. And from a silent crowed miss Susan! Of GMA7 came out to speak. Everybody was amazed OMG its susan! And then she finally talked and eventually she is the host for the whole program and so as Mr.Mark Salazar. After having a prayer and singing our national anthem they started the program.

For the first part they announce the top 3 qualifiers who join the documentary competition. The top 3 documentary films are “Dapit hapon” “Pusod” and “batang padyak”. These guys were great. Mostly the ones who made Dapit hapon. Sadly our college didn’t make it in top 3 but I wish they all played the videos of all the competitors. The speaker said that the winner of the competition will be announce at the end of the program.

The first guest speaker is Ms. Marites Vatug. She tackles about the use of ethics and the risk of investigative journalism.  She even introduced her works. She is a writer of books about laws and politics. After finishing her talk she entertained some questions from the panel of judges and the student audience. This topic is important you see we needed to be ethically good for our viewers. And at the same time now the risk on doing a documentary. Being a filmer or a field reporter is a dangerous job. After the question and answer  they gave us coupon! For lunch! having finish with lunch we came back to the hall. Then a dance number from la consolacion Universtity and a song number from Ms. Dana Salvador of Urdaneta city university. The singer was great she even had an encore.

The second speaker is Mr. Ed lingao. A multi media editor in TV5! His lecture was tagalog but everyone was able to learn from this. He showed us a documentary film about the ampatuan in Mindanao.  After his talk he entertained some questions from the judges and the students. The third speaker is Ms.Rowena paraan the head of bayan mo patrol mo at ABS-CBN. Then after the talk and questions a performance from different students.

The Credit Alligator

Have you ever had a friend or coworker that takes all the credit that the whole team worked into?

That one person who’s like “hey I should be first because I’m the one who had the most contribution in this project”.

Even though you all know that this person is slacking.

He’s only there for the fame and not for the fun of the job.

Usually this guy doesn’t have the talent to begin with. Doing anything just to be in top and to be known by other people.

Wanting to be popular.  Someone who craves the spotlight.

Multmedia's what and why's

 Kristofer Lorbes
Lyceum of the Philippines - laguna

What is Multimedia

A multimedia is a skill to use different media in one use. It’s like combining different elements to one new and

super different things from the ones you combined. It is maximizing the potential of a single media. A kind of

evolved form of old media but now it is accessible and mostly easy to understand and  use. There are

different kinds of multimedia applications but the most commonly used by an average individual are the

World Wide Web and Computer Games.

why is it fascinating?

But why is it in demand? Or why is it that everyone you know uses these kinds of media? Maybe because

it’s fun, easy and entertaining and mostly because it’s mainstream.

Study: For example let’s try using multimedia applications with studying. Unlike in an average school where

it’s all verbal and chalk writing stuffs. Using multimedia applications in their method of teaching will improve

the students cooperation and attraction to a certain subject. Making them more knowledgeable without them

getting bored. It is more easier to teach.

Arts: There are tons of different multimedia applications artist use for sharing and letting the world know

their works. Making sketches, painting and even manipulating photos and making your own film.
